Seven Trees Station carriers Orlindo Gaoiran, Johnny Chiu, and Swinder Atwal have been bitten by dogs in the past and are available to talk about their frightening experiences.

Background:

Nationwide, 5,581 Postal Service employees were attacked by dogs last year. Of the 4.5 million Americans bitten by dogs annually half are children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The U.S. Postal Service, the medical community, veterinarians and the insurance industry are working together to educate the public that dog bites are avoidable.

Last year, the Bay-Valley Postal District experienced 56 dog attacks. Of the 56   dog attacks, San Jose experienced 20. Year-to-date, the district has had 89 dog   attacks, far exceeding all of last year.

The Bay-Valley Postal District includes East Bay from Napa to Fremont, South Bay from San Jose to King City and the coast from Big Sur to Santa Cruz.
