SUN VALLEY, CA — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is proposing relocation of retail services currently provided at the Sun Valley Post Office, 10946 Ratner Street, to a yet-to-be-determined location as close as reasonably possible to the current site.
The reason for this proposal is that at 16,473 square feet, the current facility is much larger than needed for efficient current or projected future operations. Only about 3,000 square feet is required for retail and Post Office Box operations. Delivery operations were moved out of the building two years ago. If the relocation is approved and takes place, USPS anticipates placing this property on the market to generate needed revenue.
This relocation project would provide full continuity of service and would consist of procuring a suitable alternate location, preparing the new location for use as a Post Office and then transitioning services from the old to the new facility when completed. All current services would remain at 10946 Ratner Street until a new Post Office is up and running. Post Office Box numbers and the ZIP Code would remain the same.
In undertaking this project, USPS will complete a process set forth in Title 39 Code of Federal Regulations 241.4, which solicits input from the community and elected officials.
The Postal Service invites the community to learn more about this project at a public meeting being held on March 15, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., in the Red Room of Pacifica Hospital, 9449 San Fernando Road, Sun Valley CA 91352.
