VAN NUYS, CA — The U.S. Postal Service’s Van Nuys Mega Passport Acceptance Office, located at 15701 Sherman Way in Van Nuys, is expanding hours during peak season with the addition of Monday hours. The location is usually open Tuesday through Saturday.
Van Nuys temporary peak season hours are Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These peak season hours will remain in effect through July 29, 2016.
Effective July 30, 2016, Van Nuys passport acceptance hours will be Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This location does not accept appointments. For more information about passport requirements and fees, visit www.travel.state.gov. Additional services available at the Van Nuys Mega Passport Acceptance Office include passport photos and photocopy service.
It’s best to apply for a passport early, at least several months before a planned trip. During peak season — spring through summer — passport processing typically takes up to six weeks. Passports can be expedited for an additional fee of $60, with processing then taking within three weeks.
If a passport is needed sooner, applicants should contact the Los Angeles Passport Agency at 877-487-2778. Proof of travel dates will be required.
The U.S. Department of State issued 15.5 million passports and passport cards last year.
