Lisa Baldwin takes Oath of Office as San Diego Postmaster

SAN DIEGO, CA — On Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM, Lisa Baldwin will follow a tradition that dates back to 1869 when Jacob Allen became the first Postmaster of San Diego.  Baldwin will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Prado in Balboa Park.

Baldwin started her career with the United States Postal Service in 1988 as a letter carrier at the Sorrento Valley-Mira Mesa Station. She started her managerial career as a supervisor in 1990.  This was followed by higher-level managerial assignments in Poway, Encinitas and Oceanside and as the Manager: Post Office Operations.

“As the new San Diego Postmaster, it is an honor and privilege to be appointed to this important and civic position,” said Baldwin. “I am passionate about striving for excellence and committed to the needs of all Postal customers. I want our customers to know that the United States Postal Service is the best place to do business.”

Baldwin is a graduate of the Postal Service’s Advanced Leadership Program. She is “green belt certified” in the Lean Six Sigma program.

Baldwin and her husband, Ed reside in Oceanside, CA.  They have one son, Bobby, 19.

As San Diego Postmaster, Baldwin is responsible for delivery and retail operations of 42 Post Office stations and branches with 2,000 employees delivering to 1.4 million delivery points (residential and business addresses) and daily mail volume of 614,000 pieces.

Pacific Area Vice President Dean Granholm will administer the official oath of office. Baldwin replaces Ken Snavely who is now the Los Angeles Postmaster.
