AROMAS, CA — On Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 10:30 am, Alex Reed will follow a tradition that dates back to 1924 when Lesbia Williamson became the first Postmaster of Aromas. Reed will raise his right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Aromas Post Office, 368 Blohm Avenue, CA 95004.
Reed started his postal career as a Rural Carrier in 1986 in Castroville, CA. He served as Quality Work Life/Employee Involvement Facilitator and was a Supervisor Customer Service at the Watsonville Post Office for nine years.
“Gracious for the opportunity to serve a small community’s postal needs as the representative of an American Institution that dates to our founding fathers,” said Reed. “Excellent customer service at a clean well-maintained Post Office is my goal.”
Reed and his wife, Jordania, have three children, Vanessa, 28, Audrey, 26, and Kevin, 17.
Reed is a graduate of San Jose State University with Bachelors of Arts degree in Botany. He also has an Associate of Science Degree in Life Sciences from Gavilan College.
Reed enjoys participating in local community events such as the Aromas Day Parade, where he recently performed and sang City of New Orleans and played his guitar at the Aromas Live bi-annual event at Grange Hall.
As Aromas Postmaster, Reed manages all operations at the Aromas Post Office with a total of 540 Post Office Boxes. He manages two employees who process and distribute an average of 1,250 pieces of mail daily.
Rick Keppeler, Manager Post Office Operations, will administer the official oath of office. Reed replaces Patricia Rivas, who was promoted to Postmaster at the Soledad Post Office.
