CALISTOGA, CA — On Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at 11:00 am, Deep Khahera will follow a tradition that dates back in 1943 when Josie Ratto became the first Postmaster of Calistoga. Khahera will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Calistoga Post Office, 1013 Washington St, Calistoga, CA 94515.
Khahera started her postal career as a City Letter Carrier in 1995 in Alameda, CA. Her managerial career track took her to the Walnut Creek and Lafayette Post Offices as a customer service supervisor. She served as Officer-in-Charge at the Lafayette and Calistoga Post Offices prior to her promotion as Postmaster Calistoga.
“I want to serve residents of Calistoga with excellent and efficient mail service,” said Khahera.
Khahera and her children live in Rodeo. She has one son, Sunny, 23, and a daughter, Jasmine, 17. Her parents are Ajit and Ajaib Kahlon.
As Calistoga Postmaster, Khahera manages all operations at the Calistoga Post Office with a total of four city routes and two rural routes, delivering to 3685 addresses. She manages 11 employees who process, distribute, and deliver an average of 6,720 pieces of mail daily.
Khahera has a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology. She plans to join the Rotary Club and she currently volunteers at the John Swett High School and enjoys reading.
Sunil Chanan, Manager Post Office Operations, will administer the official oath of office. Khahera replaces Yvonne Marriot, who retired.
