RIO DELL, CA — On Friday, August 26, 2016, at 1:00 PM, Katherine Coleman will follow a tradition that dates back to 1924 when Leon Parker became the first Postmaster of Rio Dell.  Coleman will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Rio Dell Post Office 315 Wildwood Ave, Rio Dell, CA 95562.

She also served as Postmaster at Bridgeville, Gualala, and Garberville Post Offices.  Other managerial positions included supervisor of customer service, Officer-in-Charge and finance supervisor.

“Being a Postmaster is a huge deal,” said Coleman. “I wanted to be an example for my children and show them what is possible if you are willing to work hard and not give up.”

Coleman lives in Eel Rock, CA.  She has two children, Anna Leigh, 22, a California Brand Inspector and Daniel, 25, an equipment operator for Grizzly Mountain logging.

She enjoys horseback riding, Doggy Agility, gardening, and spending time with children and seeing the world through their eyes.  She is a member of Chamber of Commerce and does volunteer work at the PTA, Little League, and Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department.

As Postmaster, Coleman manages all operations at the Rio Dell Post Office that has two city routes and one rural route with 2,253 delivery points (residential business addresses) and 680 PO Boxes.  She manages 12 employees who process and deliver an average of 6,000 pieces of mail daily.
