YUBA CITY, CA – On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, Kim Johnson will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Johnson will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Yuba City Postmaster during a 2:00 p.m. ceremony at Yuba City Post Office, 761 Plumas St., Yuba City, CA 95991. Post Office Operations Manager Cheri Smith will administer the official oath of office.

Johnson began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1991 as a casual letter carrier in Salinas, CA. In 2013, she began her management career, supervising carriers and clerks in Blaine, Washington.

“I am very proud to be Postmaster in Yuba City. What an honor to serve Yuba City residents in this way,” said Johnson. “I am privileged to work with and supervise such a great group of people.”

“We are all committed to continue providing world-class customer service to the residents in this great city,” she added.

Johnson enjoys camping, boating and spending time with her family. She is married to George Johnson. She has two children, a son Clayton and a daughter Meagan. Johnson is also a U.S. Army veteran.

As Yuba City Postmaster, Johnson manages five employees who process and deliver more than 5,000 pieces of mail daily.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
