BIGGS, CA — On Friday, October 14, 2016, Elizabeth Whiteford will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Whiteford will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Biggs Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at Biggs Post Office, 2994 Sixth St., Biggs, CA 95917. Post Office Operations Manager Brenda Pope will administer the official oath of office.
Whiteford began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1997 as part-time flexible carrier in Sacramento, CA. In 2000, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Citrus Heights, CA.
“I am truly honored to be Postmaster in Biggs,” Whiteford said. “It feels amazing to represent the Postal Service in this way. I hope to leave a legacy of superior customer service and outstanding community involvement.”
Whiteford enjoys reading, sewing, swimming, horseback riding and bowling. She is married to James Whiteford. They have seven children, Daniel, Amanda, Michael, Richard, Joey, Kenny and Erin.
As Biggs Postmaster, Whiteford oversees over 500 rural daily mail deliveries and over 1,000 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes. She manages four employees.
