HOPLAND, CA — On Friday, November 4, 2016, at 11:00 AM, Marcy Wright will follow a tradition that dates back to 1889 when Jesse Weybright was the first Postmaster of Sanel, whose name was changed to Hopland in 1891. Wright will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Hopland Postmaster at the Hopland Post Office, 13400 S. Hwy 101, Hopland, CA 95449.
Wright started her postal career as a part-time flexible clerk at Fort Bragg in 2005. She worked at the Hopland and Laytonville Post Office, where she also served as the officer-in-charge, the step before becoming a Postmaster.
“Being a Postmaster comes with great responsibility and it means so much to be involved in a position that has such great tradition in our country’s history,” said Wright. “It is truly an honor, and I plan to uphold the trust that our customers have placed in our Postal Service while serving as the Hopland Postmaster”
Wright, 54, enjoys spending time with family and loved ones. She loves nature and likes to try new recipes and work on art projects. She plans to organize a food drive for the local food bank during the holidays, and she donates to the Mendocino County Spay-Neuter assistance program.
As Postmaster, Wright manages all postal operations for the community of Hopland that has one rural route with 395 delivery stops (residential business addresses) and 409 PO Boxes. She manages one employee and the office processes and delivers an average of 3,500 pieces of mail daily.
Bobbi Riley, Manager of Post Office Operations, will administer the official oath of office.
