Sandra Forney to be sworn in as Live Oak Postmaster

LIVE OAK, CA — On Thursday, November 10, 2016, Sandra Forney will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Forney will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Live Oak Postmaster at a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at Live Oak Post Office, 2622 Gum St., Live Oak, CA 95953. Post Office Operations Manager Brenda Pope will administer the official oath of office.

Forney began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1998 as clerk in Gridley, CA. In 2007, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Oroville, CA.

“I am truly honored to be Postmaster in Live Oak, the town where I raised my children,” Forney said. “It feels amazing to represent the Postal Service in this way. I feel that I have come full circle in the Postal Service and I am proud to serve in this community.”

Forney enjoys spending time with her family. In addition, she likes to camp, boat, cross-stitch, sew, and participate in mud runs. She is married to J.D. Forney. Forney has two children, Tyler Raymond, 21 and Sabrina Raymond, 19.

As Live Oak Postmaster, Forney oversees over 6700 rural daily mail deliveries and over 1,000 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes. She manages nine employees.
