Evelyn Williams Takes Oath of Office as Cazadero Postmaster

CAZADERO, CA — On Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 2:00 PM, Evelyn Williams will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Cazadero Post Office, 6145 Cazadero, CA 95421. Williams will follow a proud tradition that dates back to 1881 when Silas D. Ingram was sworn in as the first Postmaster.

Williams started her postal career in 1981 as a clerk in Santa Rosa and transferred to Guerneville in 1984 as a clerk. She quickly advanced to her first Postmaster position in 1987 as the Postmaster Duncans Mills.

 “My first obligation as the Postmaster is to my community,” said Williams. “My customers expect excellent customer service and exceptional delivery, and I plan to provide that.”

Williams, 62, enjoys music, pinochle, and the cinema. Williams graduated Summa Cum Laude from SFSU with a bachelor’s degree in social work in 1977. She attends and assists at Cazadero Community Club events. She has a son, Dylan, 25

As Postmaster, Williams manages all postal operations at the Cazadero Post Office with one employee. The Post Office has one highway contract route with 496 delivery stops, 367 PO Boxes and handles between 12,500 to 25,000 pieces of mail daily.

Karen Naylor who served as Postmaster from 1982 to 1998 will administer the official oath of office.
