Merjo Ocampo to be Sworn in as Elk Grove Postmaster

ELK GROVE, CA — On Friday, August 18, 2017, Merjo Ocampo will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Ocampo will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Elk Grove Postmaster at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony at Elk Grove Post Office, 8215 Longleaf Drive, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Post Office Operations Manager Al Valdivia will administer the official oath of office.

Ocampo began his U.S. Postal Service career in 1988 as letter carrier in Milpitas, CA. In 2005, he began his management career supervising carriers and clerks in Elk Grove, CA.

“I am truly honored to be Postmaster in Elk Grove,” Ocampo said. “I look forward to serving the American public in this way. I vow to truly make a difference.”

Ocampo enjoys spending time with his children. He is married to Rowena Ocampo. They have three sons, LJ, Ethan and Jonathan.

As Elk Grove Postmaster, Ocampo oversees over 60,000 city and rural daily mail deliveries and over 3,600 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes. He manages nearly 200 employees.
