DAVIS, CA – On Friday, September 22, 2017, Billy Williams Jr. will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Williams will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Davis Postmaster at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony at Davis Post Office, 2020 5th Street, Davis, CA 95616. Post Office Operations Manager Cheri Valdivia will administer the official oath of office.
Williams began his U.S. Postal Service career in 1998 as a part-time flexible clerk in Rocklin, CA, after being honorably discharged from the military for a decade of service. In 2013, he began his management career supervising carriers and clerks in Sacramento, CA.
“Becoming the Postmaster in Davis, is a dream come true,” Williams said. “I look forward to building and maintaining community partnerships in a commitment to excellence. I am excited about the possibilities for the future and I proudly accept this responsibility bestowed upon me.”
Williams enjoys spending golfing, traveling and playing fantasy football. He is married to Chloe Williams. They have two daughters, Niyah and Zakia.
As Davis Postmaster, Williams oversees over 18,000 city and rural daily mail deliveries and over 3,800 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes. He manages over 100 employees.
