FRESNO, CA — On January 30, 2018, the United States Postal Service held a public meeting to discuss the possible relocation of the Fresno Civic Center Finance Station, located at 2309 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721. After having carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting, the United States Postal Service has decided to proceed with the proposal. The Fresno Civic Center Finance Station will be relocated to an existing property located at 855 M Street, Suite 170, Fresno, CA 93721. The public will be notified once a move date has been determined.
The Postal Service’s lease at 2309 Tulare Street, expired. The landlord and the Postal Service could not agree on terms which would allow the Postal Service to remain at the facility. During the public comment period and at the public meeting there appeared to be a consensus that it was important to maintain a presence within the downtown Fresno neighborhood. The location at 855 M Street is the best option available to maintain service within the community.
When the new facility opens at 855 M Street, the Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at this location as are currently provided to our customers at the existing location. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
