MAXWELL, CA — On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, Sandra Forney will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Forney will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Maxwell Postmaster at a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at Maxwell Post Office, 260 Oak Street, Maxwell, CA 95955. Post Office Operations Manager Jerry Wolfe will administer the official oath of office.
Forney began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1998 as clerk in Gridley, CA. In 2007, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Oroville, CA.
“I am truly honored to be Postmaster in Maxwell,” Forney said. “It feels amazing to represent the Postal Service in this way. I feel that I have come full circle in the Postal Service and I am proud to serve in this community.”
Forney enjoys spending time with friends and family. In addition, she likes motorcycle riding, boating, and sewing. Forney is a member of the American Legion and is involved in Quota Club. She is married to JD Forney. Forney has two children, Tyler Raymond, 22 and Sabrina Raymond, 20.
As Maxwell Postmaster, Forney oversees over 1100 pieces of mail delivered to Post Office boxes daily. She manages two employees.
