SACRAMENTO, CA — Tax day will be Tuesday, April 17, this year, due to the District of Columbia celebrating Emancipation Day on Monday, April 16, 2018.
Customers who want the safety and security of the U.S. Mail to submit personal data contained on tax documents must have the envelopes postmarked on or before April 17, 2018, to avoid late penalties.
The Sacramento Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC) will be extending mail collection service on April 17, 2018 until midnight to accommodate last-minute tax filers.

All other mail collection boxes and Post Office mail drops will be collected at their regular posted times on April 17. All Post Office retail lobbies will adhere to their normal business hours. Individual Post Office service hours are available by visiting usps.com, or calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).
