BURBANK, CA — On Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 1:00 pm, Amber Pember will follow a tradition that dates back to 1887 when Emily Goren was appointed as the first Postmaster of Burbank.
Pember will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Burbank Post Office, 135 East Olive Ave., Burbank, CA 91502.
In 2006 Pember began her postal career as a part-time flexible letter carrier in Port Hueneme. She transferred to the South Station Post Office in Bakersfield in 2009 and within a year, she was promoted to supervisor of customer service.
In 2012, she was promoted to Postmaster at the Wasco Post Office. Over the next several years, she developed her knowledge and skills in delivery and retail services and held various positions as a station manager, manager of post office operations and manager of customer service operations. Pember received the Area Vice President’s award for Outstanding Leadership and Top Performance, district manager recognition for Manager Post Office Operations of the Year, and Area Vice President’s Top Quartile in the Nation Total Operating Expense.
“As the Postmaster of this media city, my desire is to build a solid relationship of trust, through community involvement and exceptional customer service,” said Pember. “I want to provide a safe work place for all employees where they feel like they have the ability to do the best job they can.”
Pember and her husband, Jason Thomas, and their three daughters, Hailey (20), Brooke (9), and Sallie (2), reside in Oxnard, CA. She is currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.
She believes in community service and plans to become a member of the local Chamber of Commerce. She volunteers her time in academic and athletic activities involving her daughters.
As Burbank Postmaster, Pember manages all operations at the Burbank Post Office with a total of 115 city routes, delivering to 66,228 addresses and 3,705 Post Office Boxes. She manages 199 employees who process, distribute, and deliver an average of 219,243 pieces of mail daily.
Sierra Coastal District Manager Al Santos will administer the official oath of office. Pember replaces Angelina Ines-Batugo who retired.
