SAN ANDREAS, CA — On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, Nicole Barela will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Barela will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new San Andreas Postmaster at a 2:00 p.m. ceremony at San Andreas Post Office, 315 Russel Road, San Andreas, CA 95249. Post Office Operations Manager Sal Cardinal will administer the official oath of office.

Barela began her U.S. Postal Service career in 2009 as relief postmaster in Lookout, CA. In 2013, she was installed as postmaster in Canby, CA. In January, she was awarded the position of postmaster in San Andreas, CA.

“I am extremely proud to be chosen as the new Postmaster for San Andreas,” Barela said. “I love my job and nothing makes me happier. I aim to serve the San Andreas community by providing them with stellar customer service by means of my expertly trained team of dedicated employees.”

Barela has three children, Devon, 29, Keith, 24 and Ryann, 21. She has one granddaughter, Lia, 17 months. She enjoys anything outdoors, such as hiking and gardening.

As San Andreas Postmaster, Barela oversees three highway contract routes, with more than 5,000 pieces of daily mail volume. In addition, San Andreas services over 2000 daily Post Office box deliveries. Barela manages four employees.
