Eilyne Graves takes Oath of Office as Pacoima Postmaster

PACOIMA, CA — On Friday, August 17, 2018, at 11:00 am, Eilyne Graves will follow a tradition that dates back to 1915 when Louis Quin Branson was appointed as the first Postmaster of Pacoima.   

Graves will raise her right hand to be sworn in as the new Postmaster at the Pacoima Post Office, 13507 Van Nuys Blvd, Pacoima, CA 91331.

In 1987 Graves began her postal career as a letter carrier in Thousand Oaks.  She began to fill in for supervisors in 1992.  She graduated from the Associate Supervisors Program in 2000. 

In 2011, she began to accept various detail assignments as Officer-in-Charge in Newbury Park, Reseda, Chatsworth, Woodland Hills, Studio City, Newhall, and Sylmar Post Offices.  In 2015 she was promoted as Manager Customer Service in Panorama City.  In 2017 she was promoted as Postmaster Sun Valley Post Office until her promotion to Pacoima Post Office in March 2018.  She was recognized as Postmaster of the Year in 2014.

“I always knew coming into the Postal Service that I eventually wanted to get into management as a Postmaster,” said Graves. “Accomplishing that goal, especially a large-size office such as Pacoima is an honor, a blessing and the culmination of years of hard work, mentoring, growth, patience, and applying my knowledge.  My goal is to make Pacoima a premier customer service office and valued asset to the community.”

Graves reside in Simi Valley, CA.  She has one son Brooks Allen (22).  Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Poindexter and Mr. and Mrs. James Graves.  Her siblings are Kevin Graves, Gervaise Mayfield, Angelique Mayfield, and Jason Poindexter.  She has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from UC Berkeley in Mathematics.

She is a member of the Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. – Delta Epsilon Chapter.  They help to provide resources for the mentally and physically challenged.  They also provide scholarships for disadvantaged and economically challenged students.

As Pacoima Postmaster, Graves manages all operations at the Pacoima Post Office with a total of 31 city routes, delivering to 22,763 addresses and 1,866 Post Office Boxes.  She manages 62 employees who process, distribute, and deliver an average of 79,000 pieces of mail daily.

Sierra Coastal District Manager Post Office Operations Mary Bream will administer the official oath of office.  Graves replaces Sandra Eng who is now the Postmaster of San Fernando Post Office.
