VACAVILLE, CA — On Thursday, August 23, 2018, Trameca Johnson will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Johnson will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Vacaville Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Vacaville Main Post Office, 200 Prairie Ct, Vacaville, CA 95687. Post Office Operations Manager Cheri Smith will administer the official oath of office.
Johnson began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1994 as casual clerk in Pittsburg, CA. In 2004, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks in Vallejo, CA. Johnson has served in areas of increasing responsibility in such cities as Crockett, Woodland, Gridley, Davis, North Highlands and Marysville. Most recently she was postmaster of Winters, CA.
“When I was hired, I knew I wanted to do more in our organization,” Johnson said. “I had a goal and it feels great to have achieved it. I want to share my passion and enthusiasm with my new team so that it empowers them to do their very best each and every day. It feels amazing to represent the Postal Service in this way and I am honored to serve the Vacaville community.”
Johnson enjoys spending time with her family and shopping. She is married to her husband, Stacy. Johnson has two children, Shanai’jah, 19, and Devion, 10. She majored in criminal justice at Heald College and is the founder of a non-profit youth basketball organization, Impact Hoops, in Woodland, CA.
As Vacaville Postmaster, Johnson oversees 57 city and rural routes which average over 82,000 city and rural daily mail deliveries. In addition, Vacaville services nearly 5,000 Post Office boxes daily. Johnson manages 105 employees.
