NAPA, CA — The Postal Service has decided to make the existing emergency space at 1436 Second St, Napa, CA 94559, as the permanent site for postal services.
After the Franklin Station (Thomas Kongsgaard Post Office, 1351 Second Street) was severely damaged by the 6.1 earthquake, there was a consensus that postal retail services could not be re-established at Franklin Station. For the past three years, retail services have been provided in an emergency space at 1436 Second St.
The space is in the downtown area, is adequately sized, and has provided reliable postal services to the community, including the space needed for Post Office Boxes.
Retail hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; closed Saturday and Sunday. The P.O. Box lobby will be open 4:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The Postal Service is aware of the inconvenience our customers had to endure due to the necessary relocation as a result of the earthquake, and feel the decision to make the emergency space our permanent home will allow us to continue to serve the downtown Napa community.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
