ST. HELENA, CA -- The St. Helena Post Office, a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project and registered as a historical building, has seen better days since it was commissioned in 1939. Preparation to add a fresh coat of paint to the façade has started and will be complete by August 27, 2018. The new paint will restore the face of the old building, adding luster and sheen to the weathered façade.
So as not to inconvenience customers, abatement work for the main customer entrance and the dock vestibule areas will be completed on Saturday, August 18. Contractors will cordon off any work areas and signage is posted to keep customers out of certain areas. The Postmaster will have an alternate site on the premises for customers to deposit outgoing mail while the work is being done.
The Postmaster apologizes for any inconveniences this may cause customers during the project and believes customers will like the new look once completed.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
