RANCHO CORDOVA, CA — On Friday, November 9, 2018, Kenneth Mitchell will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.
Mitchell will raise his right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Rancho Cordova Postmaster at a 12 noon ceremony at the Rancho Cordova Post Office, 10923 Progress Court, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670. Post Office Operations Manager Al Valdivia will administer the official oath of office.
Mitchell began his U.S. Postal Service career in 1994 as a letter carrier in Hayward, CA. He was later promoted to supervisor in Oakland, CA in 2001. He has also served in various positions of increasing responsibility within the Postal Service.
“I feel honored to be able to represent the Postal Service in this way,” Mitchell said. “To me being postmaster means serving the community. I plan to do just that. I want to be a reason for people to have confidence in the United States Postal Service.”
Mitchell has one son, Kenneth Mitchell Jr, 21. He loves to travel and attend concerts. He is a San Francisco 49ers super fan. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. He also received his Master of Science degree from the University of San Francisco. Mitchell is an ordained deacon and a U.S. Army Veteran.
As Rancho Cordova Postmaster, Mitchell supervises 101 employees. He oversees 51 carrier routes and 2,650 Post Office box deliveries.
