Caren Gonzalez to be Sworn in as Santa Barbara Postmaster

SANTA BARBARA, CA – On Thursday, November 8, 2018, Caren Gonzalez will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Gonzalez will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Santa Barbara Postmaster at an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at the Santa Barbara Main Post Office, 836 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93102. Post Office Operations Manager Joe Yuson will administer the official oath of office.

Gonzalez began her U.S. Postal Service career in 1991 as a part-time flexible clerk in Port Hueneme, CA. She was later promoted to Customer Service Analyst in 1999. She next served as manager of East Beach Station in Santa Barbara in 2002. She then went on to serve as postmaster in Malibu and Moorpark, CA.

“I feel honored to be able to represent the Postal Service in this way,” Gonzalez said. “I am passionate about what I do and I am committed to doing the best job I possibly can for the Santa Barbara community. In addition, I aim to continue to provide stellar customer service by means of my expertly trained employees.”

Gonzalez is married to her husband, Steve. They have two daughters, Michella and Nicole. They have five grandchildren Hayle, Kayla, Celine, Casey and Matteo.

Gonzalez loves to spend time with her five grandchildren. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of the Assumption in the Philippines. She is also Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified.

As Santa Barbara Postmaster, Gonzalez oversees 115 delivery routes which average over 76,000 daily mail deliveries. In addition, Santa Barbara services over 13,000 Post Office Boxes daily. Gonzalez manages 243 employees.
