U.S. Postal Service Working Quickly To Restore Service

LOS ANGELES — Residents of Malibu and Topanga will soon see the familiar USPS delivery vehicles in neighborhoods as conditions begin to return to normal following the recent wildfires.

As an integral part of the communities we serve, the U.S. Postal Service is working around the clock to restore mail service and delivery in impacted areas.

Although fire officials are slowly allowing residents in impacted areas to return to their homes, postal customers are encouraged to call (323) 586-1460 to hear the latest information regarding where mail can be picked up or when mail delivery will resume.  As new information becomes available, messaging will be updated.

The Postal Service will make deliveries in areas where it is deemed safe to do so.

Victims of the recent wildfires may submit a Change of Address or a temporary Hold Mail request to assist them with mail delivery.

Customers who will not be able to occupy their home within 30 days should submit a Change of Address (COA) request. Be sure to mark “Temporary” on the card/online form.

A temporary Change of Address is designed for customers who plan on returning to their residence within six months. If you are not planning to return to your current address, please submit a permanent” COA request.  A COA card is available from your letter carrier or at your local Post Office. COA requests also may be filed at usps.com 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To complete the online Change of Address, customers will need a valid email address as well as a valid credit or debit card for the $1 charge.

Hold Mail service is designed for customers who plan on occupying their homes within 30 days.  Customers who request a temporary Hold Mail will have their mail and packages held safely by the Postal Service for up to 30 days. They can then either pick up accumulated mail at their local Post Office (I.D. required for pick up) or they can request mail be delivered to their residence on a date they choose (no longer than 30 days).  Once their Hold Mail is picked up, mail delivery will resume.  For more information, check: https://holdmail.usps.com/holdmail/.
