Jeffrey Salamon to be Sworn in as Stamford Postmaster

Jeffrey P. Salamon will be sworn in as Postmaster of Stamford CT at 11 a.m. on Friday March 8 at the Stamford Government Center Lobby, located at 888 Washington Blvd in Stamford.

Brookfield Customer Service Supervisor Michael Buzzeo will serve as Master of Ceremonies, Colors will be presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9617 of Springdale, and retired Stamford Postmaster Mark Dolan will administer the Oath of Office.

Remarks will be offered by Congressman Jim Himes, Post Office Operations Manager Guy Polacco, and New haven Postmaster Andrea Dallas.  Salamon’s daughters will also participate in the program with his daughter Nicole Salamon singing the “Star Spangled Banner” and his other two daughters, Samantha and Alexis Salamon, holding the Bible as he is sworn in.

Other participants include Students of St. Cecilia Elementary School, who will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and the new Postmaster will administer the “Oath of Office” to the school’s Wee Deliver “Postmasters.”  Wee Deliver is a postal program that helps schools set up a school “post office” complete with Postmasters, clerks and carriers to write, sort and deliver letters within the school.  Whitney Bisceglia will close the program with “God Bless America.”

Salamon began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in 1993 when he was hired as a Letter Carrier in New Canaan, CT.  In 2002, he was promoted to Supervisor of Customer Service at the Ridgefield Post Office and in 2005 he transferred to the same position in Old Greenwich.

In 2008 Jeff advanced to the position of Postmaster of Cos Cob and in 2011 was selected as Postmaster of Old Greenwich. In 2012 Jeff was promoted to Postmaster of Westport. During those assignments he acted in several positions including Officer in Charge of the Fairfield and Darien Post Offices and Post Office Operations Manager for the ZIP Code 066 – 068 – 069 areas, overseeing all Postmasters in those Post Offices.

The new Postmaster is the recipient of numerous special achievement awards and letters of commendation in recognition of his significant contributions to the U.S. Postal Service. He has served on many special committees and currently holds the position of Postal Co-Chair for the Fairfield County Connecticut Postal Customer Council.

In his new assignment, he will oversee 250 employees who process and deliver mail to more than 61 thousand residents and businesses in Stamford and New Canaan. He is married and he and his wife Maria have three daughters: Nicole, Samantha and Alexis.
