STAMFORD, CT — While postal retail windows and delivery services will be curtailed on Monday’s Columbus Day holiday with the exception of Priority Mail Express deliveries, postal sales and services will continue to sail in Stamford at a number of local retailers, in postal lobbies providing self-service kiosks and online.

These services will be available to customers previously served by the Atlantic Street Station, located at 421 Atlantic Street in Stamford.  To clarify, the services at the Atlantic Street Station were suspended on September 20, 2013, due to severe deterioration of the station. At the West Ave Station, the Atlantic Avenue Station Post Office box holders find lobby hours that are 24 hours per day Monday through Saturday.  No changes in address have been required, although customers who would like to request curbside delivery may contact Jeffrey Salamon, Stamford Postmaster, at the Camp Avenue Post Office.  Requests for Post Office Box refunds may be made at the West Ave Station.

During the period of suspension at the Atlantic Street Station, Stamford customers presently receiving carrier delivery will not experience a change in service, with the possible exceptions of parcel and accountable mail retrieval at the Barry Place Carrier Annex, 1 Barry Place.  When an accountable item requiring a signature, such as a certified letter, cannot be delivered on the first day, the carrier will return the item to the Barry Place Carrier Annex. Customers may pick up the article at the Barry Place Carrier Annex, request redelivery on another day convenient for them, or authorize the carrier to deliver the item to another person.

All Stamford customers continue to use Stamford CT and their current ZIP Code.  No customers have experienced a change in address due to the temporary suspension of service at the Atlantic Street Station.

The Postal Service is observing the Columbus Day federal holiday on Monday, October 14, 2013.   All Post Offices will re-open with regular mail delivery, collections, and retail services on Tuesday.
