New Canaan Post Office to Move on January 21st

New Canaan, CT — The New Canaan Post Office will be moving from their 2 Pine Street location to a temporary location located at 90 Main Street.  

Operations at the 2 Pine Street location will shut down at the conclusion of regularly scheduled business on Saturday January 18, at 2:30 p.m.  Services will resume at a temporary location at 90 Main Street, New Canaan at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, following the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, January 20. Only Priority Express Mail will be delivered on the holiday and Post Offices will be closed.

Customers will receive their Post Office Box mail at the 90 Main Street location, and retail services will be made available by a mobile unit located in the New Canaan community.  The location is pending approval from the New Canaan Police Department. The mobile unit will be available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and Post Office Box mail will be made available for pick up after 11:00 am, with lobby hours Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m.  until 2:30 p.m..

Retail services are also available at the Camp Avenue Post Office, located at 24 Camp Avenue, Stamford located 4.7 miles away. Window service hours at Camp Avenue Post Office are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday with 24-hour lobby access. The Camp Ave Post Office has a Self Service Kiosk for 24/7 retail service using a debit or credit card. Customers can also go to www.usps.com and select Post Office Locator to find other convenient locations to buy postal products or services.

Customers presently receiving carrier delivery will not experience a change in service, with the possible exceptions of the retrieval of oversized packages or mail that requires a signature for delivery. Customers can retrieve these items at 90 Main Street, New Canaan. Items that require a signature (such as certified letters) be available at 90 Main Street the following day. Customers may also request redelivery of the item on a more convenient day or authorize the carrier to deliver the item to another person. New Canaan customers will continue to use New Canaan, CT 06840 address.
