MARYLAND — For the first and only time this century, Bushwood’s ZIP Code 20618 and Cabin John’s ZIP Code 20818 will match the date this week on Feb. 6, 2018 and Feb. 8, 2018 respectively.

The occasion is known in U.S. Postal Service circles as “Date Meets ZIP” and offers residents an opportunity to get a card or letter stamped with matching numbers.

These Post Offices will offer special postmarks to commemorate the event. Residents and businesses are invited to bring cards, postcards, letters, or purchase items from the offices during regular business hours to have them stamped with the commemorative postmark to mark the occasion. The postmark will be available for 30 days after each event.

“We are honored to serve Bushwood and be a proud member of this community,” said Postmaster Tracy Owens. “We welcome customers to stop by and join us in celebrating this unique event in our town.” Bushwood Post Office is located at 22840 Bushwood Road, Bushwood, MD 20618.

The Cabin John Post Office will also welcome customers who seek this distinctive cancellation of the original Union Arch Bridge, also known as the Cabin John Bridge. Construction of this bridge started in 1857 and was completed in 1864. It is a historical landmark and a significant part of the community. Cabin John Post Office is located at 7945 MacArthur Blvd., Cabin John, MD 20818.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
