Naples, FL — Over 350 Naples letter carriers will be participating in the 17th annual National Association of Letter Carriers food drive collecting donated food during their regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 9th. This is the nation’s largest annual one-day food drive.
Postal customers are asked to leave nonperishable food by their mailboxes prior to mail delivery that day. Publix Supermarkets is providing plastic bags for this purpose; which will placed in mailboxes prior to May 9. Campbell Soup Company has provided postal cards which customers receive in the week preceding the food drive.
Customers who are returning north before May 9th may drop off their donations at any Post Office. All food collected during the food drive will stay in Collier and Southern Lee County and will be delivered by Collier Harvest to local soup kitchens, shelters and food pantries to be distributed to those in need.
“Food banks are having a hard time keeping their shelves stocked so this years food drive is more important than ever,” says Jessie Costin local NALC President. Richard Barber, Officer in Charge of the Naples Post Office concurs, “I am proud of the efforts of all our employees all year but they really shine when helping out our community during the food drive.”
Please help us “Stamp Out Hunger” by participating in the Letter Carrier Food Drive on May 9th.
