Puppies & Kittens – Stamps To the Rescue!

Fort Myers Postmaster Anne Murray will present a stamp enlargement of the Adopt A Shelter Pet postage stamps to Lee County Domestic Animal Services on Friday, April 30 at the Page Field Post Office, 2655 N Airport Rd at 10:00 a.m. First Day of Sale postmarks will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday is the first day of sale for the new stamps which were unveiled on the Ellen DeGeneres show by Postmaster General John E. Potter on March 17th. Every year 6-8 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters and, of that number, nearly half are euthanized. Animal services will have puppies and kittens at the event.

Friday April 30th Lehigh Acres Postmaster Kathy Hague will present a stamp enlargement to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, 2010 Arcadia St, Fort Myers at 10:00 a.m. The event will feature police dogs training on site, spaying, neutering and micro chips at a reduced rate, dog washing and police dogs training on site.

Saturday May 1st Fort Myers Postmaster Anne Murray teams up with Lee County Domestic Animal Services at 5600 Banner Dr, Ft Myers for an Adopt-A-Thon from 11:30 – 2:00 featuring a craft activity for children ages 6-12, face painting, adoption certificates and final judging of the student pet essay contest with trophies awarded at 2:00 p.m. All adoptions are 50% off and include a collectible First Day of Sale postmarked adoption certificate.

Saturday May 1st Naples Postmaster Richard Barber will partner with Brooke Legacy Animal Rescue at the Naples Main Post Office, 1200 Goodlette Rd to host a stamp event from 10 a.m. to noon. First Day of Sale postmarking service will be offered on animal adoption certificates as well as stationery items. Face painting for the children and rescue animals on site will add to the festivities!
