The fourth phase of the “Delivering a Positive Customer Experience” campaign, launched by the U.S. Postal Service recently, offers a toll free hotline for small businesses. USPS-4-SMBIZ (877-747-6249) is staffed by agents with expertise in small business products and services.
“We Value Your Business,” one of the four Customer Service Essentials, focuses on helping small business customers and letting them know the Postal Service appreciates their business.
Providing good service to customers, including small business customers, is the responsibility of every postal employee. By consistently exceeding expectations, customers will know that USPS values their business.
Small businesses provide the Postal Service with approximately $9 billion in revenue each year — a significant contribution to its bottom line. This is one of the reasons why postal employees are prepared to provide accurate information when customers inquire about USPS regulations, products or services.
Making it easy for small business customers to interact with postal employees delivers the message that the Postal Service values their business. By practicing the four Customer Service Essentials--Telephone Courtesy, It Begins with a Smile, Delivery Done Right, and We Value Your Business--customers will know that the Postal Service is working hard, not only to earn their business, but to keep it.

Mr. Zip’s Tip: Unlike other shippers, the Postal Service doesn’t add surcharges for fuel, residential or Saturday delivery.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
