LAKE PLACID, FL — On the morning of Thursday, June 12, the Postal Service, along with First Responder Agencies in Highlands County will conduct an evacuation and drill at the Lake Placid Post Office at 901 Hillcrest Avenue in Lake Placid.
The emergency drill will not result in disruption of mail service. There is no cause for residents to be alarmed as emergency procedures are tested. The Post Office is simply holding a drill on June 12.
The drill will put in to place emergency procedures that will be used in the event that a suspicious item with possible biohazard materials is discovered at the Post Office.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
