Expanded Package Delivery: Select ZIP Codes in the Suncoast District are providing seven-day package delivery through Christmas.  Also, in some Central FL locations, package delivery is starting as early as 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the evenings.  Deliveries will be made by postal employees wearing official U.S. Postal Service identification and driving U. S. Postal Service vehicles.

Expanding the days and hours for package delivery reinforces our commitment to provide our customers with superior service, as we continue to respond to increased volume in our package business.

During the 2013 holiday season, the Postal Service delivered 434 million packages and 6.4 billion pieces of First-Class Mail across the nation. Due to continued e-commerce growth and improvements to the Priority Mail product line, the Postal Service is expecting double-digit growth in its package business this holiday season, likely in the range of 450 to 470 million packages. That equates to roughly 12 percent growth over the same period last year.

Improved Priority Mail tracking and text alerts introduced this year are important enhancements to the free insurance, free tracking and date-specific delivery introduced last year.

“It’s all about customer service and convenience – especially during our busiest time of year,” emphasizes Orlando Postmaster Dan Beauchemin.  “Our goal is to exceed the high standard of service we set last year by delivering on our core promise of timely, affordable, and trackable delivery for our customers,” added Postmaster Beauchemin.

For expected delivery of holiday mail and packages by Christmas, the Postal Service recommends keeping the following mailing and shipping deadlines in mind:

  • Dec. 2 – First-Class Mail International/Priority Mail International
  • Dec. 10 – Priority Mail Express International
  • Dec. 15 – Standard Post
  • Dec. 17 – Global Express Guaranteed 1
  • Dec. 20 – First-Class Mail/Priority Mail (domestic)
  • Dec. 23 – Priority Mail Express (domestic)

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
