INLET BEACH, FL — The U.S. Postal Service will be adjusting the ZIP Codes of some of our customers in Walton County in order to maintain quality delivery service in these areas, District Manager David Martin announced today.  All residential and business customers affected by the change will receive a letter from the U.S. Postal Service advising them of their new ZIP Code.  All ZIP Code changes will become effective July 1, 2016.

Customers with a 32413 ZIP Code will be transitioned to the 32461 ZIP Code, effective July 1. This change will not affect customers’ current street addresses, only their five-digit ZIP Codes.

Customers may continue to use Alys Beach, Panama City Beach, Rosemary Beach, Seacrest and Watersound along with the 32461 ZIP Code as their mailing address. However, Inlet Beach MUST be used as the official city name for emergency purposes.

Inlet Beach will be the recognized city name in the event of an emergency for the 32461 ZIP Code. Emergency 911 services recognize only one city name per ZIP Code. Inlet Beach was chosen because it is the longest recognized populated place name in the area.

A notification letter is being sent to all affected customers with information on the ZIP Code change. The letter will provide details and instructions for customers, to ensure a smooth transition. It is important that customers understand they should take no action at this time, including making any changes to their existing ZIP Code. The notification letter will explain how customers should notify their correspondents for the July 1 transition.

"We understand that this change will be inconvenient for some customers," said Martin.  "Our customers will need time to notify the people with whom they correspond and perhaps to prepare new return address labels or stationery.  However, it is important that these customers begin using their new ZIP Code beginning July 1."

Postal Service customers unsure of their ZIP Code may obtain their correct ZIP Code online via the United States Postal Service website at www.usps.com  in the Quick Tools tab, or by calling
1-800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777). The ZIP Code change will be reflected as of July 1.

"To make this change as easy as possible for our customers, the Postal Service will ensure continued delivery of their mail with the old ZIP Code for a period of one year," said Martin.  "We are confident customers using this new ZIP Code configuration will experience more timely delivery of their mail."
