JACKSONVILLE, FL — Hurricane Hermine flooded and closed the Suwannee Post Office at 23252 SE Highway 349, Suwannee, FL 32692, but effective Wednesday, September 14, a mobile retail unit will be in the Post Office parking lot. Customers may pick up their P. O Box mail with proper ID. The mobile retail unit will also sell stamps.
For customer convenience, the mobile retail unit will be open Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Customers may use cash and checks for their purchases.
“The Postal Service is part of the fabric of our nation, and our postal employees make a difference in every community,” said Gulf Atlantic District Marketing Manager Lucious Sumlar. “We are opening a retail mobile unit to help bring back a sense of normalcy to our Suwannee customers in the aftermath of Hurricane Hermine.”
Postal employees also remind customers that the Postal Service website — usps.com — is like an online Post Office at your fingertips, and is open for business 24/7. The Postal Service’s smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
