Fort Lauderdale — The American Stamp Dealers Association (ASDA) Winter Postage Stamp Show is a three-day event, February 10-12, at the War Memorial Auditorium at 1800 NE 8 Street in Fort Lauderdale.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, Fort Lauderdale Postmaster David Guiney will be the Master of Ceremonies for the First-Day-Of-Issue (FDOI) dedication of the Patriotic Nonprofit stamp. The public is invited to the dedication ceremony and the stamp show at no cost.

Patriotic Nonprofit Stamp

The Patriotic Nonprofit stamp features the letters “USA” in blue, accompanied by a bright red star on a white background with a blue border. To create the new design, the 2016 USA stamp art was rendered slightly smaller to accommodate the blue border. Intended for bulk mailings by authorized nonprofit organizations, this stamp will be issued in coils of 10,000.

Organizations wishing to mail at nonprofit prices first must be authorized as eligible by the Postal Service. Then, they must make sure that the material being mailed complies with requirements for nonprofit prices.

There are 10 categories of organizations that may be eligible including Agricultural, Educational, Fraternal, Labor, National and State Political Parties, Philanthropic, Religious, Scientific, Veterans, and Voter Registration Officials.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
