Background:

The Open Air Post Office is an important Mediterranean Revival building in St. Petersburg marking the transition from the city’s early Mission period to the rise of the Beaux Arts historicism which would make its mark in the 1920’s.  The building was completed and dedicated in September 1917.
Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
