Some Fairburn and Riverdale Residents To Get New Zip Codes

June 04, 2009

DULUTH, GA—Some Fairburn and Riverdale residents will get new ZIP Codes, effective June 20. The change affects approximately 2300 deliveries to individuals in the northern portion of Fayette County, where Fayette County adjoins Fulton and Clayton Counties.

Fairburn residents, whose physical addresses are in Fayette County will change their ZIP Codes from 30213 to 30214. Riverdale residents who reside in Fayette County will change their ZIP Codes from 30296 to 30214. ZIP Code 30214 is served by the Fayetteville Post Office, located at 250 E. Georgia Ave. Affected customers who receive notices to pick up packages or other mail will retrieve these items from the Fayetteville Post Office.

Fairburn residents in Fayette County previously had their mail delivered by the Fairburn Post Office, located at 75 Washington Street. Riverdale residents in Fayette County received mail delivery from the Church Street Station, located at 6691 Church Street in Riverdale.

The Fayetteville Post Office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. As an added convenience the Fayetteville Post Office also has an Automated Postal Center, which accepts debit and credit card for conducting Postal transactions 24-hours a day.

Customers were notified via letter of their new ZIP Codes earlier this month and were urged to begin using their new ZIP Codes on the effective date. To ease customer transition to the new ZIP Code, the Postal Service will ensure delivery of mail with both the old and new ZIP Codes for up to one year. After one year, continued use of the old ZIP Code may result in delivery delays.
