DULUTH, GA — Several metro-Atlanta Post Offices with normal hours past 5 p.m. will accommodate last-minute tax filers on Monday, April 15th, the tax filing deadline (See attached list).
The Atlanta Main Post Office, 3900 Crown Road, which is open from 6:00 a.m. until midnight, year round, will be staffed to collect returns until midnight on April 15th as well.
When dropping off tax forms on April 15th, Atlanta District Manager Sal Vacca recommends visiting Post Offices early in the day to avoid last minute long lines. Vacca also recommends giving returns to outside collection employees (where available), using Self Service Ship and Mail Centers for stamp purchases and double checking returns for the proper address and correct postage. Customers should also be advised that all mail weighing 13 ounces or more must be presented at the retail counter.
If you are not enclosing a payment, Georgia taxpayers can send most tax forms, including 1040, 1040A and 1040 EZ to: Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Kansas City, MO 64999-0002. If you are enclosing a payment, send to: Internal Revenue Service, P.O. Box 931000, Louisville, KY 40293-1000. For more information visit: www.irs.gov.

About The U.S. Postal Service
A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world’s mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
