Cobbtown, GA — On June 7, 2018, the United States Postal Service held a public meeting to discuss the possible relocation of the Cobbtown Post Office. After having carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting, the United States Postal Service has decided to proceed with the proposal. The Cobbtown, GA, Post Office located at 6888 Main Street, Cobbtown, Georgia 30420-9998 will be relocated to a yet-to-be-determined nearby location.

The Postal Service’s landlord declined to extend its lease requiring it to relocate. The Postal Service’s goal is to select a new location as close as possible to the current location. Consideration will be given to sites that are convenient for customers and will meet postal operational needs. The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as are currently provided to customers at the existing location. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the Cobbtown Main Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Cobbtown Community, the Postal Service properly considered community input, and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.

This is the final decision of the Postal Service with respect to this matter, and there is no right to further administrative or judicial review of this decision.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.
