Atlanta Postmaster Ashlea A. Meyer

ATLANTA — Ashlea A. Meyer will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the 35th Atlanta Postmaster on Sept. 7, following a tradition that dates back to when Benjamin Franklin was named the first Postmaster General of the United States.

The installation ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in the Atlanta City Council Chamber, located at 55 Trinity Ave. SW. USPS Chief Operating Officer David E. Williams will administer the oath of office.

Meyer began her postal career in 2001 as a letter carrier in Louisville, KY. In 2003, she joined the management ranks as a Customer Service Supervisor in Jeffersonville, IN. Other positions include Postmaster in Lafayette, IN, and acting executive Postmaster in Sacramento, CA.

Prior to this assignment, she was a city delivery specialist at Postal Service Headquarters in Washington, DC. Meyer holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, and a business marketing degree from Indiana University.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Atlanta, a responsibility I plan to fulfill,” Meyer said. “Our goal is to provide a world-class customer experience that consists of friendly, reliable and prompt service.”

Meyer will oversee Postal Service operations for approximately 1,400 employees who work in 47 retail stations, branches and carrier units that deliver to more than 500,000 addresses.
