HONOLULU – Teresa Myers and Angela Okumura were recently appointed as the new Postmasters for the Kapaau and Kealakekua Post Offices, respectively.
- As Kapaau Postmaster, Myers supervises two postal employees and the daily processing and distribution of more than 4,500 pieces of mail and 300 packages daily to 1,580 PO Boxes. She is a 19-year postal employee who had most recently served as the Postmaster at the Fredonia (KY) Post Office. A Kentucky native, Myers began her postal career as a rural carrier associate at the Marion (KY) Post Office. “I’m super excited to be here,” said Myers. “I love my new Post Office, employees and community. My goals are to be a part of the community and to help this Post Office grow. I love going to the beach so I look forward to checking out the Big Island’s many beautiful beaches. I’m also an avid gardener so I love the fact that my flowers will be able to grow and bloom year round!” Myers resides in Kapaau, where she will soon be joined by her Yorkshire Terriers Tobey and Ariel and her fiancé Turner Martin.
- As Kealakekua Postmaster, Okumura supervises six postal employees and the daily processing and distribution of more than 5,000 pieces of mail and 200 packages daily to 2,500 PO Boxes and to more than 400 addresses on one rural delivery route. She is a 26-year postal employee who had most recently served as the Postmaster at the Parker Ford (PA) Post Office. A Pennsylvania native, Okumura began her postal career as a letter carrier at the Warminster (PA) Post Office. “I’m happy to be here and thankful for this opportunity,” said Okumura. “My goals are to educate our customers about the wide range of postal services available, especially about the cost and time savings available through online postage options. I’d also like to partner with local stores to get them to sell stamps in order to increase access to our products for our customers.” Okumura and her husband, Kawika, reside in Waikoloa.
