HONOLULU — Junlin Rivera will be officially installed as the Lihue Postmaster at a special invitation-only program scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 26 at the Lihue Post Office.
The brief installation program will feature the administration of the Postmaster’s Oath of Office to Rivera by Honolulu-based USPS Manager of Post Office Operations Felix Bagoyo.
Rivera replaces former Lihue Postmaster Gavin Sakagawa, who moved on to postmaster positions on the island of Hawaii.
As Lihue Postmaster, Rivera supervises 28 postal employees at the Lihue Post Office and the Lihue Carrier Annex and the daily distribution of mail to more than 5,700 addresses on nine delivery routes and more than 2,600 PO Boxes in Lihue, Hanamaulu and Puhi.
Rivera is a six-year postal employee who previously served as a distribution clerk and the acting postmaster at the Lihue Post Office.
“I hope to continue to provide outstanding customer service to the community, and to contribute to the overall success of the Postal Service,” said Rivera. “I’m very much aware of the importance of the Postal Service to Lihue residents and the business community.
“I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to my mother, Linda Rivera. This opportunity would not have been possible without her constant support through the years. She spent countless hours caring for my children while I was putting in the hours necessary to develop the skills and experience needed to assume this position.”
Rivera was born in Waimea, raised in Eleele and graduated from Waimea High School. She currently resides in Koloa with her daughter and twin sons.
