FRUITLAND, IOWA — The Fruitland, Iowa Post Office, which was leveled by a tornado in the spring of 2007, is scheduled to open for business on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m., it was announced by the Postal Service’s Des Moines-based Hawkeye District.
“The Fruitland community has done a wonderful job of rebuilding the Post Office,” said Lori Cross, a Post Office Operations manager based in Milan, IL. “We’re excited about doing what we do best – serving our customers.”
The acting postmaster for the new Fruitland Post Office will be Rural Letter Carrier Rosemary Murphy, who was injured in the tornado. Murphy has been working at the Muscatine Post Office since her injury.
The new Post Office will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday (closed for lunch between 12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.), and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday.
