DES MOINES, IA — USPS will be holding a Job Fair on Saturday September 22, 2018 located at 7900 Hickman Rd, Windsor Heights IA 50324. There will be informational sessions starting at 9am, 10am and 11am. Postal Managers will be on site to answer all questions.
Job opportunities include City Carrier Assistants and Rural Carrier Associates. Openings are throughout the Hawkeye District, which includes most of Iowa and the Quad-City communities in Illinois. The appointments are for 360 days with the possibility of additional appointments. The hourly wage is $16.78 - $17.78 with limited benefits. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required for the carrier positions.
Iowa’s largest mail-sorting centers are also gearing up for the busy holiday mailing season by offering temporary employment at the Network Distribution Center (NDC), located at 4000 109th St. in Urbandale, at the Des Moines Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC), located at 1165 2nd Ave and the Des Moines P&DC Annex located at 3600 Army Post Road.
Approximately 250 temporary holiday positions are available in the Des Moines area with 30 positions available in Cedar Rapids, 30 positions in Waterloo, and 30 positions in the Quad Cities. The temporary positions of Postal Support Clerk and Casual Mailhandler are for the period of November 10 through January 4, 2018. These positions earn competitive hourly wages from $15.00 - $17.19 with additional premium for hours worked between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., with varying shifts and days off.
