CHICAGO — The Chicago Post Office is putting the finishing touches on a new location for its Streeterville customers.
The new location, 355 E. Ohio Street, will open for business Monday, January 10, 2011, and will be known as the Streeterville Postal Store. It will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
The current location, 227 E. Ontario Street, will close at the end of business Friday, January 7.
All services available at the current location will be available at the new location, including full service retail counters, a self-service Automated Postal Center kiosk, Post Office Box service, and passport application acceptance.
Post Office Box customers at the Ontario St. location are asked to pick up their mail by the close of business January 7, in order to facilitate the move. Box holders can pick up the keys to their new boxes when the new location opens.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
