Background:
The Chicago Post Office marks the official renaming of the former Ontario Street Finance Station, which was moved to E. Ohio Street in January.  The facility is now known as the Streeterville Station, reflecting the neighborhood it serves – which happens to be part of the 60611 ZIP Code, thus the choice of June 6, 2011 (6.06.11) as the date for this event.

Customers mailing letters at the station that day can have their mail cancelled with a special pictorial postmark in honor of George W. “Cap” Streeter, the legendary character for whom the neighborhood is named.  The postmark was designed by Pia Schroth.

Representatives from the Post Office’s Mailing and Shipping Solutions team will be on hand to show how small business owners can expand their marketing with Every Door Direct Mail, the new Postal Service product which allows mailers to target customers in specific neighborhood areas without needing mailing lists or permits.

The event is part of the neighborhood’s 6.06.11 Day festivities. Several civic organizations have come together to organize events for the week of Monday, June 6, to showcase the community, home to such geographic icons as Chicago’s lakefront, The Mag Mile, and Navy Pier.
