Local Access to Postal Services Much Anticipated

April 30, 2010

Arcola, IN — After being on emergency suspension while damage caused by a fire was being repaired, the Arcola Post Office will reopen on May 1st to resume its mission of service to the community.  And, the Arcola Post Office is sporting a new look – completely refurbished and freshly cleaned and painted.

“I’m looking forward to working again with the Arcola community,” said Lane Buckner, Postmaster, “and providing the efficient service local residents have come to expect.”

Retail hours at the Arcola Post Office will remain the same as they were prior to the fire – Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed for lunch from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (lobby open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.), and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (lobby open 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.).  The new telephone number is (260) 625-8029.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 26th in the 2008 Fortune 500.
